FAQs

  • When meeting with a new family, the first step is an initial assessment and consultation with any caregiver(s) present in order to obtain a developmental and family history as well as details about your adolescent and family’s current functioning. I will then meet with the adolescent three times in order to engage and assess. The last step is to have a follow up session with caregivers (s) to share impressions, decide if to move forward, and set intentions for therapy.

  • Once a week for both adult and child patients. I believe regular therapy sessions are essential in building trust and open communication- which ultimately lead to better results. Reducing the frequency of sessions may be appropriate as part of helping a patient transition towards ending therapy, but this is something we would decide together.

  • 45 minutes for individual sessions and 60 minutes for couples/ family sessions

  • Please give 48 business hours notice for all cancellations and reschedules. Cancel/reschedule via voicemail at (646) 783-8514 or in person during our session. Some patients prefer having cancellations in writing, so if you would like to email in addition, please do so. But remember, a voice message is required to cancel especially if it is close to the appointment date. This is because I check my voice mail more frequently than email.

  • I am available by PHONE (646) 783-8514 and EMAIL bazlcsw@gmail.com Email is not confidential, so please do not put any personal information in communications. If you are looking for a faster response, please call as I check voice mail regularly and email intermittently. Please be sure to leave a message- this is a google voice number- NOT my cell phone so I may not see a missed call.

  • My rate for individual adult sessions is $200. My rate for child/adolescent therapy spans from $225 to $250. The lower end of the fee structure is for those who plan to attend 90% (which means coming year round and not taking summers off).

My fee for couples is $250 for weekly and $275 for bi-weekly.

  • I am NOT in-network with any insurance companies but I am an out-of-network provider eligible for reimbursement by many PPO insurance plans including Aetna. UHC, Cigna and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Unfortunately, I am not eligible for reimbursement from Emblem/GHI and Medicaid. If you are looking to use your insurance please click the related button for a smoother process.

  • Insurance companies rarely, if ever, provide raises for the therapists with whom they have contracts. That means that if someone is an in-network provider with an insurance company, as their expenses increase with inflation and raising overhead costs, their rate will not. Essentially, as the therapist becomes more experienced they will potentially earn less.

  • I am NOT able to offer a sliding scale to families looking for therapy for children and adolescents for a few reasons. I have limited availability of time slots appropriate for child and adolescent patients as they can only come after school and coordinating care for families often requires additional time, including speaking with teachers, guidance counselors and psychiatrists.

I have a limited number of sliding scale sessions available for adult patients who are able to come during off-peak hours and do not have insurance coverage. If this is something you're inquiring about, please be prepared to share detailed information regarding your finances including all sources of income, outstanding debt and savings and other possible sources of financial support such as family. Please understand that I am a sole provider and that any reduction of fee impacts me directly.
